About the Area

Located just south of Daytona Beach, New Smyrna Beach, or “NSB” as the locals call it, is a lively beach town full of personality you're bound to fall in love with. It’s an eclectic place where the local culture of “fun in the sun” intersects with a thriving arts community.

Spending the day on the beach here is as easy as… spending the day on the beach! From sunrise to sunset, simply hop in your vehicle and drive right out on to the hard-packed sand. And with miles and miles of stunning coastline, there’s plenty of space to set up beach chairs, watch the sunset, or take a leisurely stroll along the ocean.

Not only is New Smyrna Beach considered one of America’s Best Surf Towns, it has also been voted one of the best small art towns in the country. Creativity runs wild at the many art galleries, workshops and festivals held year round. Along historical Flagler Avenue and Canal Street, you find plenty of artists showing off their work, you can also dine, shop and celebrate like a local at one of the many eateries or specialty shops. And on Saturday mornings, head over to the “Old Fort” for one of the best farmer’s markets around - locally-grown produce, farm fresh fruits and veggies, fresh cut flowers, and hand-crafted artisan items are just a few of the items served up weekly.

My wife and I moved to SugarMill 7 years ago because we wanted to be near the beach. The community has a nice laid back southern feel with lots of nice neighbors. Also, we love the proximity to downtown New Smyrna with all of its quaint shops and restaurants.
