About the Area

Situated between three picturesque lakes in Lake County, there’s no better place to enjoy a day on the water than in Leesburg, Florida. Better known as the “Lakefront City,” it’s easy to fall in love with the natural beauty and historic charm of this small town.

Located right outside of town on the west shore of Lake Harris, you’ll find Venetian Gardens – a beautifully landscaped 64-acre public park complete with a ski beach, large swimming pool, picnic areas, BBQ grills, access to seven near-shore islands and a marina. Enjoy an early morning bike ride or an afternoon hiking the Venetian Gardens trail.

Downtown Leesburg and its charming Main Street is home to the best farmer’s market in the area. From October through April, stop by town square on Saturday mornings for homemade jam, fresh local produce, and pipin’ hot kettle korn. Afterwards, grab lunch at a sidewalk café or hunt for treasure at one of the town’s many antique stores or vintage markets.

If you’re a baseball fan, you’ll be happy to hear that Leesburg is home to one of the most successful wood bat collegiate summer baseball teams – the Leesburg Lightning. During June and July, grab a few friends and catch a home game at Pat Thomas Stadium – it’s the perfect way to spend a summer evening.

When we first decided we would look at Florida for our retirement, we had several criteria that we were looking for. We really wanted something central so that we could explore all the areas around us and we wanted to be close to the water. The Leesburg area met all of our needs. We traveled through the area extensively and chose Hickory Hollow Estates as the place to call home. It is an out-of-the-way Park with old Florida charm. There are excellent amenities, along with lots of neighbors that have become friends. I would recommend our community to anyone looking for a serene, country setting.
