Your first step to place an ad on MHVillage.com is to create it. As you enter text on the form, watch the ad being created on the right side of the page. Avoid unsubstantiated claims, non-standard English, or repetitious punctuation. See our complete editorial guidelines in part D of our Terms of Use. Once you accept the look of the ad, click the submit button to continue with selecting the counties.
This text is a bold title at the top of your ad. The words will wrap up to three lines depending on the size of the words used. Excessively long words will be truncated (cut off). Watch the ad as it is created to make sure you are achieving the effect you want.
You have up to 100 characters to describe your company or product. If this ad will only be displaying in one county, consider including the county's name to help the shopper understand the geographic targeting of your product or service.
The website link should include the full address to the exact page you want to link to. The more specifically targeted this page is to the text of the ad, the better your overall performance. Only the root of the address will appear in the ad. For example, if you enter www.mhvillage.com/ads/countyads.htm, only www.mhvillage.com will display. The form will make sure your link goes to a valid page
Your ad will only display in the counties you select. You must select at least one county to proceed. If you have previously selected counties in which to show your ad, the corresponding states in the State box will have a checkmark next to them. Click on the state to review and edit the list of counties you have selected for that state.
Start by selecting a state from the "States" box. Once selected, a list of the counties in that state will display in the Counties box. Any counties that you have previously selected will have a checkmark next to them.
Once the Counties box is populated with the list of counties from the selected state, simply click on the counties in which you would like to display your ad. Selected counties will have a checkmark next to them. To remove a county from your list, you can click the county again. The checkmark will disappear. You may also click the "Add All" button at the top of the Counties box to select every county in the state. To unselect every county in your list quickly, you may click the "Remove All" button at the top of the Counties box.
Options - If you would like to display your ad on state-level pages (pages where we know the state, but not the county,) you may click the "State Level" check box in the Options box. You may choose to display your ad at the state level in place of or in addition to displaying it at the county level. Click the check box again to turn the feature off.
The ad for this campaign is displayed on the far right side of the add/remove counties page. If you want to edit the ad, click the "Edit Ad" link under the ad.

Campaign Name is a required field, and may be edited at any time.
Every campaign must have an initial bid of at least $0.30 per click. This entry will set the initial bid for each county in which your campaign is running. Later on you will be able to override this value and adjust the bid per click for individual counties. Over time the quality of your ad will combine with the bid price to determine the placement of the ad.
This feature allows you to maintain control of your advertising budget.
The Daily Maximum limits the amount you can be charged for any particular day for this campaign. Your ad will no longer be displayed when the next click would have taken you over this maximum. If this value is set too low, your ad may never be displayed.
If nothing is entered in this field, you will not have a daily limit and your ad will be displayed continously.
Daily Maximum is an optional field.
Each ad can be in one of four states: Inactive, Active, Deactivated or Rejected.

The Enter County Bids section allows you to adjust your bid per click on a county by county basis. Once your ad has been running a while, you will also see statistics for your ad's performance.
The state abbreviation for each selected county appears in the first column on the left side of the page. Use this information to quickly see where your ad is running. You can run one ad in more than one state. Sometimes it is easier to set up new campaigns rather than try to make one fit too many markets.
These are the actual counties your ad will be displaying. If you need to make adjustments to this list, click the "Add/Remove Counties" button at the bottom of the county list.
This is the amount you are willing to pay to have your ad clicked in any given county. The default minimum bid is $0.30. You can override the default bid either up or down by entering a value here. If the value has been overridden, it will be shown in bold.
Ad placement is very important for ad performance. The top ad usually has more than three times the click traffic than the bottom ad. These bids are the initial estimates to display your ad near the top, bottom, or middle of the ad group. Your actual placement will vary over time based on the ad quality. Lower quality ads will need higher bids for the same placement as better quality ads.

For aggregate statistics and different time frames, see the Ad Summary page.
The "Average Position" is a number between 1 and 5 that indicates where your ad has recently shown. A value of "1.0" indicates the ad was always shown at the top. A value of "2.0" indicates the ad was always in the second position. A value of "1.5" indicates your ad was displayed in the first and second positions. The "Average Position" can also be blank if the ad has not displayed since last being edited. If the value is "N/A," the quality and bid are not adequate to allow the ad to display. Refer to the Top, Middle, or Bottom bid suggestions to get your ad displaying again.
